Reviving Liquid History: Compass Box Releases ‘Metropolis,’ a Tribute to Urban Culture and Lost Whisky Blends
Compass Box has unveiled Metropolis, the third offering in its Extinct Blends Quartet, a series dedicated to reviving long-lost blended Scotch whiskies. Metropolis draws its inspiration from the dynamic cultural fusion found in cities, and features a blend that includes sherry cask-matured whisky, grain whisky, and a touch of highly aged malt whisky.
The Extinct Blends Series honors the blended whiskies of yesteryear, which are nearly impossible to replicate today due to their unique compositions. Metropolis joins Ultramarine and Delos in this evocative lineup.
James Saxon, Compass Box’s chief whisky maker, remarked, “Metropolis is our tribute to the pulsating energy of city life—the blend of cultures, experiences, and moments that make urban living so electrifying. We’ve aimed to encapsulate the enduring essence of blended Scotch that still thrives in cities today.”
Metropolis can be purchased via the Compass Box website.
