Old Pulteney’s Coastal Series Hits Second Wave with Port-Infused Whisky
Old Pulteney is back, baby, with a new groove, dropping the second act in its Coastal Series: Old Pulteney Port. Forget the tried-and-true; this Highland whisky is jamming with coastal partners to riff on tradition. After opening the series with a Pineau des Charentes cask finish earlier this year, it’s time for a Portuguese encore.
Old Pulteney Port is the Wick distillery’s masterstroke—a single malt first aged in second-fill ex-bourbon casks, then reimagined in ruby port pipes and barriques straight from Portugal’s Douro Valley. No chill-filtration here; it’s all raw intensity, bottled at 46% ABV.
Malcolm Waring, the man at the helm of Pulteney distillery, couldn’t be prouder. “It’s like striking gold,” he says. “This Port expression offers a perfect mélange, combining the rich, fruity flavors of port with Old Pulteney’s distinctive salt.iness. The endgame? A single malt that’s a league of its own.”
So, what’s next for Old Pulteney Port? It’s available right now in the UK and Europe, retailing at £75, and set to conquer American shores in 2024.
