Midleton Very Rare Whiskey Goes Green: Unveils Sustainable Packaging for Barry Crockett Legacy
Midleton Very Rare rolls out eco-friendly packaging for its Barry Crockett Legacy expression, ditching the 12-year-old wooden casing for a lighter, paper-based alternative.
The iconic whiskey, which pays tribute to former master blender Barry Crockett, now boasts a sustainable exterior primarily crafted from paper. This eco-conscious move not only slashes the packaging weight but also pays tribute to distillery traditions with its duck-egg blue color scheme—traditionally used to mark a cask’s inaugural filling at Midleton.
The revamped packaging also incorporates three embossed insignias: Barry Crockett’s initial “B,” a key symbolizing ‘legacy,’ and an orchid, the emblem of the Midleton Very Rare brand.
Irish Distillers, the parent company, asserts that the eco-friendly packaging cuts fossil fuel emissions by around 50% and greenhouse gases by 48% throughout its production cycle, while also reducing water consumption by 42%. The packaging is recyclable in markets equipped with the appropriate facilities.
