Majestic’s Organic Triumph: UK Wine Retailer Forecasts Doubling of Green Sales
UK’s Majestic Wine, a leading wine retailer, has unveiled a significant 22% uptick in sales of organic wines this financial year, forecasting that this trend is poised to double in the next three years. This growth is driven by a conscious shift towards “planet-friendly purchases,” according to the company’s COO, Rob Cooke.
In the first five months of this financial year, Majestic has registered a 22% surge in organic wine sales compared to the previous year. This translates to an increase of over one-fifth, with Majestic anticipating that its organic wine sales will proliferate twofold in the next three years.
To satisfy the burgeoning demand, Majestic has augmented its core organic assortment from 50 to 67 selections, catering to both retail customers and on-trade partners.
Majestic’s COO, Rob Cooke, asserts that the craving for organic wines is escalating “at pace,” emanating from both in-store shoppers and on-trade partners. Cooke highlights the evident shift in consumer behavior, with more opting for environmentally conscious choices. “We’ve witnessed an extraordinary surge in organic sales, a trend we firmly believe will continue,” Cooke stated. “At Majestic, our goal is to guide our customers to wines they’ll adore, necessitating timely investments in the right products.”Provence Rosé tops Majestic’s organic category, with vineyards like Peyrassol and Château de Berne embracing organic practices.
Peyrassol’s ‘Reserve du Templiers’ has been identified as Majestic’s top organic offering.
Other notable performers include the alcohol-free Noughty 0% Organic Sparkling Chardonnay, boasting a 116% sales leap year-on-year. Buoyed by its success, Majestic recently added Noughty’s Sparkling Rosé to its range.
