Kilchoman Distillery’s Latest Triumph: The Launch of 16-Year-Old Islay Whisky
Kilchoman Distillery on Islay has marked a significant milestone with the launch of its oldest whisky to date, the Kilchoman 16 Years Old. This exceptional release stems from a meticulously selected blend of 21 casks, predominantly ex-bourbon barrels, with a notable inclusion of ex-oloroso sherry casks.
Anthony Wills, co-founder of Kilchoman, alongside production manager Robin Bignal, spearheaded the selection process. Anthony remarked on the significance of this release, underscoring it as a pivotal moment for the distillery. He eagerly anticipates the global Kilchoman community’s reception of this single malt, which showcases the evolving essence of Kilchoman’s whisky.
Established in 2005 by Anthony and his partner, Kilchoman emerged as the first new distillery on Islay in over 100 years. The distillery’s repertoire includes its renowned peated single malt, Machir Bay, along with the exclusive 100% Islay editions — distilled entirely from locally grown barley — and the annual sherry cask-matured Loch Gorm series.
The Kilchoman 16 Years Old is now available for whisky enthusiasts through Kilchoman stockists worldwide.
