Kavalan Unleashes a Symphony of Flavors at Whisky Live Paris 2023
Whisky Live Paris 2023: Brace yourselves, Paris. Kavalan, the Taiwanese whisky titan, is rolling into La Grande Halle de la Villette this weekend (21-23 October), and they’re bringing their A-game.
Exclusive Elixirs: Get ready for a liquid symphony: an eight-year-old peated malt, a six-year-old oloroso Sherry cask, a seven-year-old Vinho Barrique, and a nine-year-old Port cask, all fine-tuned for the French palate.
Market Resurgence: Aurora Chang, Kavalan’s regional maestro, is stoked about the French market’s revival. The pandemic? A mere interlude. Kavalan pumped up the volume with cocktail-ready options like the Distillery Select Series.
Premium Powerhouses: The Solist cask-strength whiskies? Their answer to a gap in the Japanese whisky scene. “With our third maturation warehouse nearing completion, Kavalan is amped up to meet global thirst,” she says.
Booth Bling: The Kavalan stage at the Paris event will feature a centerpiece of pink orchids, embodying the brand’s unique DNA. A batten wall, riffing off Taiwanese architecture, is topped with a green roof that echoes Yilan County’s lush vistas. The woodwork? A nod to Kavalan’s oak casks.
Taste Evolution: Didier Ghorbanzadeh, the global envoy for Kavalan’s European distributor, La Maison du Whisky, puts it succinctly: “Kavalan’s youthful yet mature profile is a game-changer. Its tropical aging conditions give it a unique signature, differentiating it from existing European single malts.”
Oak and Fruit: “The oak notes are like a killer bass line, while the explosive tropical fruit flavors add a high note, making for a perfectly harmonized taste experience,” Didier adds.
