Jack Daniel’s Unveils Bonded Rye: A Time-Honored Tradition Meets Modern Mastery
Jack Daniel’s is expanding its Bonded Series with the introduction of Bonded Rye, the first rye whiskey to bear the distillery’s “bottled-in-bond” label. Available nationwide, this 100-proof (50% ABV) whiskey adheres to the stringent criteria set forth by the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This legislation mandates that any bonded whiskey must be distilled by a single distiller in a single season, aged for a minimum of four years in a government-bonded warehouse, and bottled at 100 proof.
The Bonded Rye features a grain bill comprised of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley. It undergoes charcoal mellowing prior to aging in new, handcrafted American white oak barrels. The resulting expression offers notes of dried fruit and lingering hints of toffee.
Inspired by the original 1895 Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey bottle, Bonded Rye is packaged in 700ml bottles with a suggested retail price of $31.99. It will be available for pre-sale starting September 6 through ReserveBar, including a limited-edition Jack Daniel’s gift item.
Master Distiller Chris Fletcher remarked, “The ‘bottled-in-bond’ label on our Bonded Rye is not just a designation but a guarantee of quality. It assures consumers that this whiskey, crafted at our Lynchburg distillery, meets the highest standards. At 100 proof, Bonded Rye delivers the unique, balanced profile that our customers have come to expect from our rye offerings.”
