Introducing a Unique American Gin: Infused with Botanicals from Across the United States
This month, a novel American gin has been introduced, infused with botanicals gathered from various regions across the United States, each symbolizing a unique part of the country. The result is a flavor profile that authentically embodies the taste of America.
The botanicals include:
- Juniper, harvested in central and eastern Oregon
- Cranberry, Maine’s traditional berry
- Wild Cherry Bark
- Cascara Sagrada, found from the Pacific Northwest to the Rockies, aged for at least a year
- Yerba Santa, the revered herb of the Mojave high desert chaparral
The creators describe the gin’s scent as floral with citrus undertones, offering a light and sweet taste with hints of damp spring foliage and citrus. The finish is fresh and herb-infused.
Gary McLoughlin, the marketing director at Four Corners, spoke about the launch, saying, “We were convinced that gin needed to possess a genuine sense of locality. Unlike traditional gin with imported botanicals, we believed that all the ingredients to craft the world’s best gin were growing right here in America.”
Previously, the Four Corners distilling team made Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin. They collaborated with American gin distiller Christian Krogstad, known for Aviation gin and Westward whiskey, to envision an authentic American gin.
Krogstad stated, “Initially, I thought we would use European juniper, like many other gins. But the emphasis on solely American botanicals led me to abandon the conventional gin recipe and create an American Gin with a unique palate. The result is distinct from a typical London Dry gin; it’s a truly American gin using wildcrafted herbs from across the United States.”
The new gin is now available for $39.99 and can be bought from the Four Corners website.
