Germany’s Finest: China’s Top Wine Importers Recognized by Wines of Germany
The annual “Wines of Germany China” meeting (2022) and award ceremony for top importers was held at the “Renaissance Yu Yuan Hotel” in Shanghai. There were two winners for “Best German Wine Educator,” both of whom were qualified professionals.
An overview of the previous year’s events and next year’s plans for the 13 German wine-growing areas was presented at the start of the award presentation.
Exciting growth in demand for German wines
After the presentation, certified wine educators and importers who made significant contributions to German wine were recognized.
Sixty German wine importers and wine professionals showed up to the event, which culminated in a dinner where each importer brought a wine to go with their course.

- Along with that, two certified educators who coordinated many foundational courses for the German Wine Academy in 2022 split the “Best German Wine Educator” honor.

On December 17th and 18th, in Shanghai, Wines of Germany China, in collaboration with certified wine teachers, hosted the advanced course (GWA-Level 2) for this year, in which 35 German wine importers and merchants participated. The enormous variety and quality of German wines was on display at a recent tasting organized by Mateus Wu and Ofilos Wu, who oversaw the evaluation of 41 wines from different locations and grape kinds throughout Germany.
Many new wine importers, distributors, and retailers attended to learn more about German wine and how to better promote and sell it.
