Old Pulteney: A Unique Coastal Whisky Experience
Scotch distillery Old Pulteney has launched an exclusive expression specifically for travel retail, which has undergone finishing in Spanish oak casks.
Accessing Old Pulteney at UK Airports
This whisky is now accessible at airports across the United Kingdom. The spirit was matured in American oak barrels and offers a distinct “coastal influence” derived from its location in Wick on the Caithness Coast, situated on the northernmost shores of Scotland.
Tasting Notes
This bottling presents delightful notes of coconut, citrus, vanilla custard, and candied almonds. Malcolm Waring, the manager of Pulteney Distillery, expressed his satisfaction in introducing Old Pulteney’s 13 Years Old.
Capturing the Signature Coastal Style
“This expression truly captures the signature coastal style of Pulteney Distillery, showcasing a wonderfully unique flavor that arises from careful maturation by the seaside,” said Waring.
Joining the Global Travel Retail Collection
The 13 Years Old whisky joins the brand’s collection of single malts available for global travel retail, which currently includes the 10 Years Old and the 16 Years Old. Waring personally handpicked the casks for this 13-year-old single malt.
A Personal Journey of Flavors
“Our 13 Years Old whisky offers travel enthusiasts a personal journey of their own, beginning with tropical flavors reminiscent of sunny vacations, then transitioning to delightful hints of vanilla, toffee, and candied nuts,” stated Waring.
Availability and Introduction to Europe
The whisky is obtainable in one-liter bottles exclusively at duty-free shops in UK airports, with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 43%. It will be introduced to Europe in the upcoming months.
