Chivas Brothers Strikes a Power Chord with First Carbon-Neutral Islay Distillery
Chivas Brothers is cranking the volume to eleven with its game-changing move to Islay, Scotland’s whisky epicenter. Slated to be built on Gartbreck Farm, this new distillery is about to unleash the first Islay single malt under the Chivas banner.
Jean-Etienne Gourgues, the big boss at Chivas, couldn’t be more amped. “We’re not just adding a chapter, we’re writing a whole new book,” he says. “We’re a brand steeped in tradition, but this venture lets us do what we rarely get to do—start from ground zero.”
And talk about being ahead of the curve: the distillery is shooting for carbon neutrality right out of the gate, aiming to be as green as the Islay hillsides. Gourgues puts it like a power chord: “Islay isn’t just where we’re setting up shop; it’s where we’re laying down the tracks for a carbon-neutral future in whisky production.”
Stoked yet? You should be. Keep your eyes peeled for more info in the months to come. Financials are under wraps, but the buzz is already electric.
