Bunnahabhain Amplifies Tradition with 2023’s 12-Year-Old Cask Strength

Bunnahabhain rolls out the 2023 version of its 12-Year-Old Cask Strength whisky, marking the third installment in the annual series. This Islay distillery’s release pays tribute to the original 12-Year-Old’s legacy, featuring an unpeated spirit aged in a mix of first- and second-fill oloroso sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels. This year’s edition boasts a 60.1% ABV, a jump from 56.6% in 2022 and 55.1% in 2021, and comes non-chill filtered.

Master blender Julieann Fernandez extols, “This year’s edition elevates what Bunnahabhain stands for—unpeated, sherried, and flavor-rich, delivering punches of roasted nuts and cinnamon spice. Our spirit’s complex profile—unpeated yet sweetly aromatic—allows it to absorb the deep flavors derived from sherry cask maturation.”
