Bruichladdich Revolutionizes Whisky Tradition with Eighteen and Thirty Aged Collections
Nestled in the Hebrides, Bruichladdich Distillery has just rolled out something truly special—their very first collection of whiskies aged to perfection, shining with the debut of The Bruichladdich Eighteen and The Bruichladdich Thirty. Dubbed “Luxury Redefined”, this lineup is a heartfelt ode to the moments that have defined their journey.
The Phoenix Rises
Rewind to 2001: Bruichladdich bursts back onto the scene after a silence of seven years, fueled by a dream to meld the essence of the land with the spirit of their whisky. They kicked things off with a groundbreaking move, teaming up with a local farmer to nurture barley right there on Islay soil, setting the stage for their sourcing ethos that’s still in play. The Eighteen? It’s the fruit of that very first harvest.
Craftsmanship Meets Heritage
Enter Adam Hannett, the mastermind behind Bruichladdich’s distillation. He talks about The Bruichladdich Eighteen with a kind of reverence, calling it an “ultra-high provenance single malt whisky.” It’s not just about age; it’s about knowing exactly where every element comes from—the barley, the harvest, the casks. This 18-year odyssey from grain to glass? It’s nothing short of epic.
“18 years ago, we embraced locally-grown barley, igniting our ongoing commitment to diversify and champion our cereal growing program. Our dedication to crafting exquisite whisky that benefits the Islay community is embodied in The Bruichladdich Eighteen,” states Hannett.
A Nod to Heritage and Resilience The Bruichladdich
Thirty dives deeper into the brand’s rich history, distilled from ex-bourbon casks preserved from the distillery’s closure in 1994. Hannett reflects, “This 30-year-old single malt celebrates our distillery’s revival and honors those who believed in our spirit three decades ago. From the edge of oblivion to becoming Islay’s largest private employer, Bruichladdich and our community have thrived, paralleled by this spirit’s graceful aging.”
Redefining Luxury with Sustainability
As a B-Corp certified distillery committed to sustainability, Bruichladdich challenges traditional luxury perceptions. Its innovative “Luxury Redefined” packaging, developed in collaboration with Thirst and James Cropper, showcases that sustainability and premium design can coexist, featuring fully recyclable paper pulp materials.
Gareth Brown, Bruichladdich’s global marketing director, shares, “In launching these distinguished whiskies, we aimed to demonstrate that sustainable packaging could be both minimalistic and elegant. Our Luxury Redefined range embodies this vision, prioritizing sustainability without compromising on luxury or our core values.”
