Bremen Carnival: Brazil Meets Northern Europe This February
From February 21 to February 22, 2025, the Bremen Carnival returns, bringing the rhythms, sounds, and colors of Brazil to Northern Europe. The Carnival in Bremen will take place on Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Bremen is located in northwest Germany, near the North Sea, and may seem like an unlikely place to celebrate Carnival with samba rhythms, percussion, colorful costumes, and wild dancing. Yet, the Bremer Karneval has embraced these South American elements, turning this northern city into a vibrant celebration of music and dance.
A Carnival to Defy Winter
Cold, rain, and gray skies often define Bremen in February, but perhaps it is this stark contrast that makes the Bremer Karneval so unique. What began as a local event has grown into one of Germany’s most anticipated Carnivals, second only to the historic Carnival in Cologne.
Bright and cheerful costumes, music, and the dancing of over 100 samba groups from around the world will enliven the 40th Bremer Karneval, part of the event “UNS BLÜHT WAS” (“Something is blooming for us”).
A Unique Experience in Bremen
The Bremen Carnival is truly unmissable, attracting over 30,000 visitors annually from all over Germany and beyond. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that combines South American flair with the charm of Bremen’s historic streets.
