Discovering Lake Carezza and Its Enchanting Village: An Alpine Oasis Where Nature Meets History

This idyllic spot, named after the enchanting little lake that mirrors the spires of the Latemar Group, straddles between the Val d’Ega and the Fiemme and Fassa valleys. Its reputation as a tourist destination dates back two centuries when Princess Sissi chose to spend her alpine holidays here.

Rolling meadows intermingle with wooded areas and culminate on the east side beneath the Latemar Group, and to the north under the sheer cliffs of Catinaccio. These cliffs, especially during sunset, play host to the mesmerizing phenomenon of “enrosadira,” where the rocky walls take on a unique rosy hue. Lake Carezza

Come spring, the lake swells with meltwater, while early autumn sees it at its shallowest, plunging to depths of 6-7 meters compared to 17 meters in the spring. Its year-round clarity (except when frozen) is due to a lack of inlets; the lake is fed by underground springs that filter the water, leaving it sediment-free.

Non-skiers can take snowshoe hikes in the tranquil woods, rocket down the natural sled track at Lago Nero, or experience the thrill of night sledding at Nova Levante. For Nordic skiing, there are three tracks totaling almost twenty kilometers. Horseback riding, especially moonlit rides during winter, is organized at Malga Angerle.
