A beautiful village surrounded by nature
It is called Stifone, and it is a small part of the municipality of Narni. It rises on the left bank of the Nera river, where Via Ortana goes. A lot of research and the discovery of ancient artifacts have shown that this area was a real strategic place that was very important in the past, especially because of how easy it was to navigate the river. The Romans built and tried wooden boats right here. These boats were later used for both trade and war. The old part of the town, on the other hand, seems to have been built between the 14th and 16th centuries, when Stifone became important to the powerful Silori family. They decided to build homes here for the families of farmers and craftsmen who worked on the site.
