Bruichladdich Distillery announces the release of Octomore 14.4, the final and innovative addition to its renowned Octomore 14 series. This unique expression stands out with its exclusive maturation in virgin Colombian oak casks.
Octomore 14.4 represents a bold experiment for Bruichladdich, crafted from Scottish barley malted to 106ppm. The spirit was aged for five years in Colombian oak (Quercus humboldtii), known for its tight grain and similar characteristics to French oak. This maturation process has enriched Octomore 14.4 with profound caramel and sweet vanilla notes, achieved through varied toast and char levels of the oak casks.
Adam Hannett, Bruichladdich’s head distiller, shared his enthusiasm: “Each Octomore series challenges me as a whisky maker.
