Laphroaig’s Archive Collection Unveiled: A 36-Year-Old Ode to Whisky Excellence
Islay’s esteemed Laphroaig Distillery has launched The Archive Collection, celebrating the distillery’s heritage of extraordinary whisky craftsmanship. The inaugural release, The Archive Collection: 36 Years Old, emerges as a standout offering.
Limited to a mere 400 bottles globally, this exclusive whisky has been nurtured in American ex-bourbon casks and refined in a second-fill oloroso sherry hogshead. This meticulous process enriches the whisky with complex layers of aroma and flavor. It boasts a cask strength of 40.2% ABV, encapsulating the distillery’s bold essence.
Described by the makers, this 36-year-old whisky exudes honey, white peach, and mango aromas, complemented by orange zest and tropical fruit notes on the palate.
Each bottle, a hand-blown masterpiece, mirrors the distinctive sea glass scattered along Islay’s shores.
Barry MacAffer, Laphroaig’s Distillery Manager, remarks, “The Archive Collection represents the zenith of our offerings, exemplifying our unwavering dedication to craftsmanship. This extraordinary whisky harmonizes our signature depth with the exclusive flavors found only in the most cherished Laphroaig expressions.”
Priced at £3,750, the collection is available at select specialist retailers. Anticipation builds for more releases in 2024.
This launch also marks Laphroaig’s second 36-year-old expression, following The Wall Collection. Despite sharing the same age statement, the two whiskies showcase a remarkable diversity in flavor, underscoring Laphroaig’s range of exceptional whisky profiles.
