Old Forester Ignites Bourbon Frenzy: Prohibition Tribute Decanters Vanish in Record Time!
The Exclusive Release of Old Forester’s Anniversary Decanters
Old Forester, a brand steeped in history, originally prepared these decanters for special tastings and events to commemorate its anniversary in 2020. However, the unforeseen pandemic led to the cancellation of these events, resulting in the decanters being securely stored away.
On 16 November, these long-awaited decanters were finally released for sale, stirring immense interest and selling out in a mere 14 minutes. Priced at US$2,500 each, they were available exclusively via the brand’s official website.
Those lucky enough to secure an order can anticipate a unique experience on 5 December, the anniversary of Prohibition’s repeal. This includes not only collecting their prized decanter but also enjoying a private tour of the distillery, complete with cocktails and appetizers, in the company of the esteemed Brown family.
Master Distiller Chris Morris meticulously selected six barrels back in 2008, leading to the whiskey being bottled at 50% ABV after aging for 150 months. This special release consisted of 150 bottles for the public, with an additional 500 allocated to members of the Brown family and key partners of the company.
Master Taster Meliss Rift remarks, “Old Forester is the only Bourbon to have withstood the era before, during, and after Prohibition. Offering this rare decanter is a fitting tribute to our enduring legacy.”
Each decanter is encased in a bespoke wooden box, crafted from wood salvaged from the 2015 fire at the Old Forester Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. This fire nearly devastated the iconic Whiskey Row block, adding another layer of historical significance to these exceptional decanters.
