Reviving Heritage: Dewar’s Unveils Richer 12-Year-Old Scotch Whisky
Dewar’s, the revered Scotch whisky brand, has rejuvenated its 12 Year Old blend for the UK market, infusing it with a new vigor. This reinvigorated spirit boasts a blend of select malt and grain whiskies, each sourced from Scotland’s rich distilling regions. The whisky undergoes a unique ‘double aging‘ process in prime first-fill bourbon casks, bestowing upon it an opulent mouthfeel and a layered, intricate flavor profile.
Stephanie Macleod, the mastermind blender at Dewar’s, notes that the choice of first-fill bourbon casks imparts a luxurious richness and intricate complexity to the brand’s signature floral and honeyed character.
“Since John Dewar’s inaugural creation in 1846, our brand has been fueled by an unyielding curiosity,” states Macleod.
This enduring spirit of innovation propels our latest advancements, prompting us to perfect the aging process and introduce a taste experience that is truly without parallel. Macleod continues, “Ten years dedicated to examining the impact of cask types on flavor and feel have guided us to enhance our principal selection.
Our goal was to elevate Dewar’s 12-Year-Old, crafting a Scotch whisky experience that resonates with today’s connoisseurs and welcomes newcomers.”
Marie Peyto, European brand director for Dewar’s under Bacardi, echoes this sentiment: “Scotch whisky’s charm lies in its expansive flavor palette and the profound character derived from a diverse blend of single malts and grains. Our latest iteration of Dewar’s 12-Year-Old is the quintessence of what exceptional, enjoyable, and luxurious Scotch whisky represents.”
Now, Dewar’s 12 Years Old is poised to delight patrons in bars and restaurants and is available for purchase at Tesco across the UK (recommended retail price of £31 for a 700ml bottle).
