Cooper King Distillery Shakes the Spirits World with England’s First Net-Zero Whisky
Yorkshire’s Cooper King Distillery rolls out England’s First Net-Zero Whisky: First Edition – Fruit + Spice. Limited to just 589 bottles, this pioneering spirit comes straight from six hand-selected oak casks and has already sold out.
With an ABV of 48.1%, First Edition isn’t just another whisky. It’s a curated journey through the distillery’s finest casks, crafted from hand-mashed, floor-malted heritage grains. Distilled in copper pots and matured in-house, this handcrafted whisky delivers a symphony of dried citrus, golden syrup, mellow malt, and fiery spice.
Beyond the bottle, Cooper King takes responsibility. £5 from each sale goes to the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT), funding transformative apprenticeships for rural youth and safeguarding critical UK habitats.
Dr. Abbie Jaume, Co-Founder of Cooper King Distillery, said: “Unveiling our first-ever whisky, and one with net-zero energy no less, marks a pivotal moment for us. Our entire team is dead-set on crafting sustainable spirits with integrity and daring. We aim for First Edition to light a fire under other distilleries, pushing them towards their own net-zero goals and a greener spirits industry.”
First Edition is the follow-up act to an exclusive release from Cask No. 1, a special treat for Cooper King’s Founders’ Club members who fueled the distillery’s crowdfunding drive.
