Aberfeldy Unveils Exclusive Madeira-Finished Whiskies: The New Gold Standard in Travel Retail
Aberfeldy is stepping up its game with a bold line of Madeira cask-finished whiskies, tailored exclusively for globe-trotters and high-flyers in international travel hubs.
Packing a punch at 40% ABV, these single malts come encased in an eco-warrior’s dream: sleek, plastic-free, recyclable packaging that doesn’t skimp on Aberfeldy’s signature gold accents. And if you’re eyeing that bottle size, yes, they’ve tightened it up to a more manageable 700ml from the previous one-litre offering.
This revamped line-up features 12-, 16-, and 18-year-old whiskies, all with the unique flourish of a Madeira cask finish. It’s a seismic shift from Aberfeldy’s earlier travel retail roster, which had the 12-year-old single malt cozying up to sherry and bourbon casks.
Stephanie Macleod, the malt maestro at John Dewar & Sons, laid it out: “Madeira and Aberfeldy are a match made in whisky heaven. The rich, sweet undertones of Madeira wine elevate Aberfeldy’s own complex profile, delivering a product that’s as nuanced as it is inviting.”
Ignacio Vazquez, the marketing guru at Bacardi Global Travel Retail, chimed in: “In the post-pandemic world, exclusivity reigns supreme in travel retail. These Madeira-finished whiskies capture Aberfeldy’s essence while offering something refreshingly different to discerning palates.”
