Heineken Unveils €430 Million Eco-Friendly Brewery in Mexico’s Kanasin, Aiming to Revitalize the South
Heineken announces a €430 million brewery in Kanasin, Mexico, marking its eighth facility in the country. Slated to open in 2026, the brewery will focus on sustainable operations, generating 2,000 jobs and brewing key brands like Tecate and Dos Equis.
The decision aligns with the government’s push for southern investment and aims to capitalize on the area’s logistical advantages and sustainable resources.
Heineken’s spokesperson emphasized the plant’s commitment to minimal waste and renewable energy, leveraging cutting-edge technology.
President Lopez Obrador’s strategy to decentralize industrial growth plays a role in this venture, especially considering last year’s drought in Monterrey. Economy Minister Raquel Buenrostro endorsed the south for its abundant clean energy and water supplies.
Heineken’s Mexican journey began in 2010 with the acquisition of Femsa’s Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma beer business. The company’s Mexican beer brands, notably Tecate, Sol, and Dos Equis, are globally consumed, driving nearly $1.6 billion in annual exports, primarily to the U.S. and Canada.
