Wirra Wirra Vineyard’s Strategic Leap: A New US Alliance with E & J Gallo
South Australian vineyard Wirra Wirra has inked a strategic US distribution deal with wine powerhouse E & J Gallo.
Reports suggest that the California-based firm handles one out of every five wine sales in the US.
Aaron Ridgway, Wine Australia’s head for the Americas, described the alliance as a pivotal moment for Australian wines in the US market.
He dubbed E & J Gallo’s Australian foray as both “strategic and timely.”
Ridgway noted, “Gallo’s track record of shaping entire wine categories over the years underscores the potential of premium Australian wines in the US.”
With this pact, US consumers can soon relish Wirra Wirra’s Church Block Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz-Merlot and the exclusive Wirra Wirra McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon, accessible in both retail and hospitality sectors.
The Holy Thirst Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz and RSW Shiraz are also set for US distribution.
Wirra Wirra’s Chief, Matthew Deller MW, remarked, “E & J Gallo Winery’s dominant market position in the US is unmatched. We’re elated to chart our next course with them.”
“Despite the present difficulties for Australian vintners, the collaboration represents an unprecedented chance to leave an impact in the world’s premier wine market,” he said.
Steve Carlotti, a top executive at E & J Gallo Winery, is confident about Wirra Wirra’s potential resonance with American wine aficionados.
“Pairing with Wirra Wirra, an iconic name in Australian winemaking, is exhilarating,” commented Carlotti.
He continued, “Wirra Wirra’s reputation for crafting refined, value-driven wines is impeccable. We’re eager to introduce this stellar option to US wine enthusiasts.”
