Tomintoul Unveils a Trio of Whiskies: Tundra, Tarn, and Tor; A Tribute to Speyside’s Landscape
Tomintoul is unveiling three whiskies, available exclusively in travel retail outlets, that draw inspiration from the natural scenery near the Speyside distillery.
The latest single malts, named Tundra, Tarn, and Tor, each represent a unique maturation process and are presented in custom packaging that honors the geographical features for which they are named.
Tundra is aged solely in ex-bourbon barrels, reflecting the rare tundra conditions found near the Cairngorms National Park, where the distillery resides. The bottle’s artwork depicts the Cairngorms Plateau, with a view towards the western peak of Sgòr Gaoith.
Tarn, a peated single malt, derives its name from the old Norse word “tjorn,” meaning pond. The Cairngorms National Park, rich in tarns and bordered by ancient peatland, is depicted in the artwork, showcasing the summit of Ben Avon.
Tor, finished in oloroso sherry butts, resonates with the Scots Gaelic word “torr,” signifying a rocky peak on a hill or mountain. The packaging features Loch A’an, a secluded freshwater loch in the Cairngorms.
The Tomintoul Tundra, Tarn, and Tor whiskies will be sold in one-liter bottles at World Duty Free stores in airports worldwide, with prices set at £40, £45, and £55 respectively.
