Bon Jovi’s Recipe for Success: Hampton Water Rosé Sips Global Spotlight
Rockstar Jon Bon Jovi, his son Jesse Bongiovi, and renowned winemaker Gérard Bertrand recently visited London to promote their vision for Hampton Water rosé as a global brand. The trio gathered at Savage Garden Rooftop Bar on the 4th of July to celebrate the sixth vintage of their rosé, the 2022 edition. Despite the downpour, which was a stark contrast to the sunny weather typically associated with rosé, the team was enthusiastic about their product.
Bon Jovi expressed that the brand’s success in America has paved the way for their expansion into Europe. He emphasized that their growth was not merely due to hype, but rather the result of critical acclaim. Hampton Water recently earned a prestigious Gold medal at the Global Rosé Masters 2023. Bon Jovi acknowledged that while their distribution has significantly increased, they are still striving to reach their desired market position.
Bertrand, who was recognized as the drinks business European Winery of the Year in 2012, has been instrumental in the brand’s success. Since its introduction to the UK market in 2019, the rosé has been sold at Majestic Wine and is set to be served at Hilton hotels in the United Arab Emirates.
Despite inquiries about expanding into reds or whites, Bon Jovi clarified that the brand is strategically focusing on rosé, or “pink juice” as he fondly calls it. He believes that rosé has been a well-kept secret for over 30 years. Bongiovi added that the rosé market has seen a consolidation in recent years, with the best brands rising to the top. Bon Jovi agreed, noting that their competitors have a decade’s head start, but they are prepared to work hard to catch up.
Bongiovi described their wine as a “cheeky daytime drink” and mentioned that it is now served at several Michelin-starred restaurants. The team later attended a party to celebrate the brand’s growth in the UK. Bon Jovi humorously referred to Hampton Water as “the story of a dad offering alcohol to his underage child,” referencing the brand’s origins in the Hamptons, Long Island, where he would give his son a taste of rosé.
Bon Jovi, Bongiovi, and Bertrand also visited a Majestic Wine store earlier in the day. The brand announced Michael Misiorski, formerly of Bacardi, as its new CEO earlier this year.
