Feragaia will establish the “first” alcohol-free distillery in Scotland
Feragaia, which makes alcohol-free “spirits,” has finished building what it says is Scotland’s first alcohol-free distillery that is open for business.
The construction of the facility in Glenrothes, Fife, will allow the brand to enhance its production, which was previously conducted at a private distillery in southern Scotland.
Bill Garnock, co-founder of Feragaia, stated, “It is an honor to build the first alcohol-free distillery in Scotland, barely 15 miles from my family farm in East Neuk.
“This is a daring move in our Feragaia journey that will allow us to execute our fundamental values of provenance and process to an even greater extent. The distillery will further enhance supply chain transparency by producing an alcohol-free spirit that collaborates with the wild forces of nature that inspire us.
“Every batch of Feragaia is guided by originality, and this evolution represents our desire and ambition to be anchored in originality.”
The new distillery will combine “innovative” equipment with conventional distillation procedures to produce the liquid from 14 botanicals.
The product is subjected to many distillation cycles before being hand-blended and diluted with Scottish water.
Recently awarded B Corporation accreditation, the distillery will adhere to strict environmental rules. This will involve assessing the chemical-free and waste-free manufacturing process in an effort to develop a firm that is as circular as possible.
Feragaia wants to support the neighboring community by procuring local ingredients, with the intention of creating multiple employment opportunities.
Garnock noted, “Fife has played a pivotal part in the history of spirit innovation and is a world leader in the manufacturing of premium spirits.” The opening of our own Feragaia distillery in Fife represents an exciting new chapter for both Feragaia and Fife.
The leading conservationist in Scotland, Andres Povls, invested £1.5 million (US$1.74 million) in Feragaia in November 2021.
