How is the Günther Steinmetz Brauneberger Riesling 2018 made?
Grape management is essential. Thanks to the slate soils and the sound exposure, the fruits are healthy, ripe but full of acidity and aromas. All operations are carried out by hand: after harvesting, soft pressing, spontaneous fermentation, and aging in steel.
Organoleptic characteristics
The result is a natural wine with a remarkable acidic concentration, all concentrated, almost implodes for salt and citrus, even if it must be said that the language through which it is expressed is very refined. Everything is precise, marked with simplicity and cleanliness. The bouquet is classic, still a little closed, but centered on chalk, citrus fruits, flowers, and aromatic herbs.
On the palate, it is sharp, pungent, full of ginger and salt, and then slowly slips into an iodized finish full of lemons.
It does not have the concentration of the winery’s older brothers, but, naturally, it focuses on pureness, even if the aging potential is considerable. It has so much acidity that nothing else is needed to age gloriously.
