Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole tasting notes and review of a super tasty Sangiovese
Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole is a good wine, one of those nectars that focus on pulp, juiciness, freshness and fine features. It is not a built Chianti Classico, pumped with a thousand extracted and then drugged from wood, quite the opposite. This Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole is a vibrant Sangiovese, but which is granted without tricks, without deceit, what is in the bottle is pure fermented grape juice and that’s it.
We had visited the Le Cinciole di Panzano winery 8 years ago and the wines were at the time robust and still in progress, they had a somewhat heavy style, you could feel the wood and the freshness was in the background to the detriment of the intensity of the fruit. , but we have tasted the whole range and the style is lean, elegant, dynamic, marked by a more credible drinkability.
The Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole is the wine that is commonly called entry-level, but this does not mean that it is a dull wine or of little thickness, quite the opposite. It finds in this interpretation an amazing liveliness, crunchy fruit, flavor and sharp acidity. Of course, the 2015 vintage was blessed with unique conditions, however, the focus was not on the extract and the muscles, but a slow and constant maturation has translated into gracefulness and finesse, depth, even a certain nervousness, but it is still Sangiovese. And that stallion’s nervous discard is one of his essential prerogatives.
How Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole is produced
From vines that have their roots in soils based on marl, clay and limestone, healthy clusters are harvested, grown without fertilizers or chemicals, obviously in Panzano in Chianti. The vinification involves spontaneous fermentation, with maceration in concrete for 15 days, followed by a 12-month rest period in wood. Used barrels, never new, which serve to round off the wine and not mark it with toasted or vanilla hints.
The bouquet of the Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole
Purebred nose, pungent with crunchy fruit based on cherries, then floral arabesques, earth, roots returns, mint and closes with tomato arrive. Excellent variety, finesse and great aromatic cleanliness.
What does Chianti Classico 2015 Le Cinciole taste like?
On the palate it is sharp, the whole sip revolves around an immediate phrasing between minerality and freshness. The tannins are rocky but well-shaped, never green, on the contrary, they translate a certain strength into flavors of earth and roots, just as is asked of every good Sangiovese. The fruit is just ripe, mottled with a barely herbaceous tone, on the edge of the ethereal, but is still behind in tertiary development. Today it is a wine with splendid juiciness, full of pulp and juice. One of the most expressive and typical Chianti Classico in Panzano, not very structured, but fine and well made.
