BBK Lis Neris Rebula 2019: A Refreshing Twist on Friulian Whites
The BBK Lis Neris Rebula 2019 is an inviting white wine as sapid as the sea, fresh, and defined by an interesting mineral body.
It is not the usual white wine with salt and lemon but manages to offer a dynamism that plays on pulpy fruit, great acidity, and that wonderful minerality given by the few Friulian wines.
The structure, in any case, is quite lean, and even in terms of alcohol, the 14 degrees are not felt much, thanks to the whipping of citrus fruits that refresh the palate.
How it is produced
The letters BBK stand for the Slovenian towns where the grapes come from: Barbana, Biljana, and Kozana.
Exactly, we are in the Karst, and the vineyards are rooted in soils rich in oceanic marl rich in marine fossils, an almost unique peculiarity in Italy.
After the harvest, soft pressing, fermentation, and aging in steel.
Organoleptic characteristics
The main value of this wine is its savory intensity. It’s not bland, all lemony, or just acidic, but despite having a delicate and never overbearing structure, it fills your mouth with a stormy sapidity that tastes like oysters and the sea.
The aroma is full of yellow pulp, hay, clear herbaceous notes, citrus fruits that seem to be walking around San Remo, and kiwi and apple in a salad of fragrant herbs.
Nothing was exceptional; everything was punctuated with precision and great aromatic formality.
On the palate, it is warm and enveloping but refreshed by slashes of lime and salt.
The pace is good. It moves vertically and then expands due to its good softness. Never banal, ready for consumption. Maybe 4-5 more years will transform all the salt in evolution, but it’s not a wine made to age, so enjoy it now while it’s jovial and juicy.

On the Lis Neris winery website, you can find it for around 14 euros. An acceptable price for a particularly salty wine that will delight lovers of sushi or raw foods from the Tsukiji market.
