Arlesiana Romagna Sangiovese Brisighella DOC 2019 is a light, sharp red wine with a lean structure, good aromatic precision, a fair amount of character, and a lot of lightness. The tannins are docile and do not flatten the tongue; on the contrary, they leave room for a pleasant and earthy articulation, which gives structure to a pleasant and sincere wine. It’s not a muscular, doped-up Sangiovese but rather a clear example of finesse and drinkability bred for juice.
How it is produced
Vineyards are managed organically on the hills of Brisighella, in Pideura, at an altitude of 250–300 meters. The plants are about twenty years old. 5,000 vines per hectare and soils based on sand and limestone, with the presence of copious marine fossils, spontaneous fermentation, and aging in steel, where the wine rests for six months.
Organoleptic characteristics
Transparent ruby color. A pungent and balsamic bouquet with pickled olives, thyme, watermelon, and black tea Intense fruit, but ripe at the right point; there are no nerdy compotes and jams, just a lot of pulp. earthy finish as befits a fine Sangiovese that wants to be an authentic expression of Sangiovese from Romagna.
On the palate, it is fresh, compact, and driven by a citrusy but measured acidity. It moves with confidence and grace, always on the edge of a sharpness that balances delicate and marine flavors.
elegant but light-hearted personality trait. There is lots of juice, pulp, and sufficient length, but this is not a wine that goes deep; it is content to offer a good compromise between extract and credibility.
It’s not the red wine to put in the cellar for your child’s graduation or one that will change your life, but it has excellent, wide-ranging potential for pairing, starting from blue fish up to a classic grilled mutton.
