DharMag January 2016 Caipiroska cocktail: recipe, ingredients and the perfect food pairings

Caipiroska cocktail recipe, cocktail with vodka lime sugar, best cocktail recipe The Caipiroska, also known as Caipivodka, is a cocktail created from the rib of the Brazilian Caipirinha, in which instead of cachaça you have to use vodka.

The result is a less nuanced drink, more monolithic as flavor, but it’s one of those cases of “less is more”, because although the vodka is neutral, it allows you to customize the cocktail with thousand of ingredients, such as flowers, berries or aromatic herbs.

If you want to compare them, Caipirinha wins hands down for its subtle rainbow of aromas and sharp shades, but you should consider a plain lime Caipiroska as a blank canvas on which you can let your imagination run wild.

Put some blueberries, raspberries, tangerine juice or grapes in a Caipiroska and you’ll taste an infinite and delicious variety of cocktails.

It seems obvious, but to prepare a good Caipiroska you’ll need some perfectly ripe limes: there is no margin for error because the ingredients are few and the vodka accentuates the sharp charm of lime.

Caipiroska cocktail ingredients and doses

  • 5 cl of vodka
  • 1/2 lime cut into wedges
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • a lot of imagination for decorations and variants

How to make the perfect Caipiroska cocktail

Cut the lime into wedges and place them in an old fashioned glass with some sugar.

Pound with a muddler and when sugar is dissolved, fill with crushed ice and pour the vodka.

Cover with a hand, stick a spoon and stir with large movements.

Feel free to decorate with anything you like: kumquats, grapes or a sprig of lavender.

Caipiroska food pairings

With this high alcohol content consider it as a full-bodied red: excellent with grilled meat such as brisket, Beef Wellington, veal chop with pepper sauce or a simple pasta alla puttanesca.
