DharMag February 2016 Negroni Sbagliato cocktail recipe: a great drink born from a mistake?

Negron Sbagliato cocktail recipe, Negroni with sparkling wine Campari vermouth The Negroni Sbagliato cocktail (Wrong Negroni), called just “Sbagliato” by aficionados, is a drink much lighter than the original Negroni, the noble progenitor born in the early 1900s, due to the presence of sparkling wine instead of gin.

Anyway, the proportions of wine, bitters and sweet vermouth remain unchanged: 1/3 of each.

In this way Negroni Sbagliato becomes less aromatic and complex, but much more lively and drinkable with a river of bubbles that mix with the complex flavor of bitter and vermouth’s velvety charm. You can also add a drop of angostura to make the drink even more dry and rocky.

Negroni Sbagliato food pairings

Sbagliato is a kind of Spritz deluxe, so try to pair light, spicy dishes like: the sandwiches with tuna or herring, chicken skewers and cashews, chicken curry, but it’s also great to accompany Mexican beef tacos, tuna tataki, pasta with shrimps and asparagus, fish balls, salmon Teriyaki sauce, pasta with vegan bolognese.
